A little about Colin.

Colin was born in Dunfermline, Scotland in June 1966 but grew up in Portsmouth on the south coast of England, his family having relocated there when he was about four. In the late eighties, he moved to Milton Keynes when he started working in North London and Milton Keynes is where he currently resides, although he stopped working in North London many years ago!

Colin first became interested in photography when, as a teenager, he was given an old Petri rangefinder camera by his brother-in-law. A few years later he bought his first SLR, an Olympus OM10, when he started work and that camera stayed with him for many years until forced to replace it when it was damaged beyond repair.

As with most new photographers Colin initially took photographs of anything and everything he saw, even doing weddings part-time with a local professional in Portsmouth. Slowly though he started concentrating more on landscapes and slightly less of everything else, to the point where landscapes were pretty much the sole subject of his photography.

Recently that trend has reversed and, although the majority of his images are still landscapes, he is just as much at home these days setting up still life shots, shooting concerts, or even photographing people.

Following the demolition of the Olympus and with the acquisition of a Canon EOS, which he won in round 8 of Amateur Photographer’s 2002 Amateur Photographer of the Year competition, it made sense to enter the digital realm with Canon in 2003 with the EOS 10D.

Recently however Colin has ditched his Canon EOS gear and rejoined the Olympus OM system and now uses a brace of OM-D E-M1’s and a selection of their Pro lenses.
