Born March 1962 twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid started The Proclaimers in 1983 as an acoustic duo.
Moving toward band-oriented rock in later works they would come to the public's attention in 1987 with their singles "Letter from America" and in 1988 with "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)".
Their playing style draws from a diversity of influences, including country, folk, and punk rock.
Their music is typified by their Scottish accents.
